Tanks were first used in World war I by British troops. Many types for tanks were designed after that and used in different wars. Soviet Union and Germany were the countries who designed and developed tank in early stages for wars. But, who has developed the Most Expensive Tank ?

The most expensive tank is K2 Blank Panther, designed and developed by South Korea. The cost of a single tank is around 8,3000,000 Koren won or US$8.5 million (approx) and according to the Agency for Defense Development, it is the most expensive tank to date. The development began in 1995 with South Korea's own technology and full production is expected in 2010-2011. K2 is one of the most advanced and expensive main battle tank in the world and it overtook Japanese Type 90 MBT

Details Features of  K2 Tank
1) It is armed with 120-mm Rheinmetall smoothbore gun and can fire 15 rounds per minute.

2) It has advanced fire control system, which can track low flying helicopters and other tanks.

3) It has a crew of three, including driver, commander and gunner.

4) It has 1500 hp engine that can move the tank at a speed of 43.5 mph on paved roads and 31 mph off-road.

5) It has sophisticated digital battlefield management System and navigation system.

6) It weighs 55 ton with 10m length, 7.5m Hull length, 3.6m width and 2.5m height.

7) It uses MTU MB-883 Ka500 diesel engine and has the ability to cross any river of with depth upto 4.1 meters.

As of this writing, K2 Blank Panther is the most expensive tank in the word and got its place in Guinness Book of World Records.
